Kara Catrelle, PhD, LCSW, MSW
Relationships and Sexuality Expert
A session with me is like…
A grounded, insightful conversation that invites both reflection and real change. We slow things down just enough to hear what your body, heart, and intuition are trying to say—then translate that insight into practical steps you can actually use to enhance your relationships and sense of vitality. My style is warm, direct, and emotionally attuned; you'll leave our sessions feeling renewed desire and a sense of relief.
One life experience that helps me relate to my clients is…
Like many of my clients over the years, I've had to rebuild my life and identity more than once—through illness, heartbreak, and major life transitions. Learning to trust my body again, rediscover desire, and redefine connection on my own terms taught me that healing and intimacy are lifelong processes of becoming. That lived experience allows me to meet other women with empathy, humor, and deep respect for the courage it takes to start over and come home to oneself once again.
Three things I want clients to feel post-session are…
More grounded and clear about what they truly need, more confident in their bodies and choices and more at ease within themselves. Many describe a renewed sense of possibility—a shift into greater self-trust, openness, and well-deserved pleasure.
Past experience that qualifies me for this role is…
For over 25 years, I've supported women across all stages of life while they navigate the vulnerable challenges and changes that come with sexuality, self-worth, and the connection to their bodies. As an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist with a PhD in Clinical Sexology, I specialize in educating women about their bodies, the nature of desire and pleasure, and how to cultivate the emotional intimacy they crave in relationships. My background in Jungian psychology, neuroscience, Tantra, and Ayurveda allows me to integrate both science and self-awareness into our sessions, helping women feel safe, seen, and ultimately empowered.
My relevant credentials are…
– B.S. in Psychology, Upper Iowa University (1999)
– MSW, Loyola University Chicago (2007)
– PhD in Clinical Sexology (graduating Feb. 2026—dissertation completed, awaiting graduation)
