Maggie Doucette, MA
Public Affairs & Civic Engagement Consultant
A session with me is like…
Having a thoughtful strategist and a civic coach rolled into one. We’ll turn big questions into clear next steps, connect the dots between passion and policy, and leave you feeling grounded, informed, and ready to make change where you live.
One life experience that helps me relate to my clients is…
Running for local office in my own hometown taught me what it feels like to step forward despite fear, find my voice in a skeptical room, and keep showing up anyway. That experience helps me relate deeply to anyone learning to lead from where they are.
Three things I want clients to feel post-session are…
Confident in their ability to take the next step
Clear about their priorities and possibilities
Empowered to take meaningful action in their communities
Past experience that qualifies me for this role is…
I’ve spent over 15 years working across government, advocacy, and civic engagement, helping people and organizations navigate complex systems and turn ideas into action. My background includes policy and communications work in the New Jersey Legislature and Washington, D.C., as well as partnerships with nonprofits on state and local advocacy campaigns led by residents themselves. Through my writing on Substack, I’ve continued to make government more transparent and approachable for everyday people. I hold a master’s degree in public policy and specialize in turning complex civic challenges into clear, practical steps toward change.
My relevant credentials are…
– Master of Arts in Public Policy
– Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ — 2014, Focus: Public Policy and Government Innovation
– Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ — 2006
I help people find their voice in public life. As a Public Affairs & Civic Engagement Consultant, I’ve spent 15 years turning concern into action—guiding communities, advocates, and everyday citizens to create change that lasts. I believe civic engagement isn’t about knowing everything; it’s about knowing where to start and realizing you already belong in the room.
