Britta Willson, MA, CSE, NEDA Proficient EOLD

Gerontologist, Educator, and End-of-Life Doula

A session with me is like…
Sitting down with someone who’s truly listening. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, help you sort through what’s been weighing on you, and share tools and insights that make the path ahead feel clearer. My goal is for you to walk away feeling understood, supported, and more at ease about what comes next.

One life experience that helps me relate to my clients is…
Living with chronic illness myself and caring for loved ones who face the same. I know firsthand the frustration of trying to get help in systems that can feel impossible to navigate and the exhaustion of not being believed or truly seen. These experiences taught me that caregiving is more than a list of tasks; it’s emotional, relational, and often isolating work. They’ve also deepened my compassion for others facing uncertainty. I’ve learned that vulnerability can be a source of strength, and that small, steady acts of care (for ourselves and others) can change everything.

Three things I want clients to feel post-session are…
Understood, informed, and less alone in whatever they’re facing.

Past experience that qualifies me for this role is…
I’ve spent over 20 years working across long-term care, hospital, and community settings supporting older adults, caregivers, and families. I currently serve as a Deputy Long-Term Care Ombudsman, advocating for residents’ rights and helping families navigate complex systems. Previously, I coordinated a hospital-based caregiver program, worked as an Older Adult Behavioral Health Specialist, and trained healthcare and long-term care providers. My M.A. in Gerontology and certifications as an End-of-Life Doula and Sexuality Educator reflect dedication and a holistic perspective. My work blends compassion with clear, practical guidance.

My relevant credentials are…
– B.A. Human Studies, Marylhurst University, 2013
– M.A. Gerontology, Simon Fraser University, 2016
– Certified Mediator, Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center, 2019
– Registered Yoga Teacher 200, Yoga Alliance, 2022
– Certified Holistic Sexuality Educator, Institute for Sexuality Education and Enlightenment, 2023
– NEDA Proficient End-of-Life Doula, National End-of-Life Doula Alliance, 2025

I’m Britta Willson, a gerontologist who’s spent my career walking alongside older adults, families, and their care partners as they navigate change, loss, and the unknown. My background includes advocacy, care coordination, and education across government, healthcare, and long-term care settings. I specialize in dementia care, end-of-life support, and sexuality and aging, including LGBTQ+ health and well-being across the life course. My goal is to help you understand your options, make informed decisions, and move forward in a way that feels real, doable, and true to who you are. I approach each situation with curiosity, compassion, and respect for individual choice—because there’s no single right way to age or to care for someone you love.
