Sara McAllister Nelson
Certified Mediator and Parent Educator
A session with me is like…
A thoughtful conversation with someone who truly listens—part trusted friend, part experienced professional. I offer a calm, nonjudgmental space where you can sort through what’s happening, gain perspective, and explore realistic, solution-focused ways to move forward. My goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and clear about your next steps.
One life experience that helps me relate to my clients is…
I relate to my clients because I’ve faced many of the same challenges. I’m a mother of three young adult sons—one on the autism spectrum—a small business owner, a caregiver for aging parents, and someone who has experienced divorce. I’ve felt very alone at times, and those experiences shape how I show up for others—with empathy, honesty, and a clear focus on helping women move forward with confidence and strength.
Three things I want clients to feel post-session are…
Supported
Empowered
Confident in their choices
Past experience that qualifies me for this role is…
Certified Family Mediator since 2000 and trainer since 2017 (15,000+ hours guiding clients through conflict and change)
Parent Educator since 2005 (250+ sessions helping families strengthen communication and decision-making)
Conflict Coach since 2010 (3,000+ hours supporting individuals in finding clarity and practical solutions)
Completed 1,000+ hours of advanced conflict resolution training
Experienced working with clients from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds, including military members and spouses
My relevant credentials are…
– Certified General and Family Mediator (2000) – Dispute Resolution Services, Office of the Executive Secretary, Supreme Court of Virginia
– Certified Mediation Mentor (2004) – Dispute Resolution Services, Office of the Executive Secretary, Supreme Court of Virginia
– Parent Educator (2005) – Dispute Resolution Services, Office of the Executive Secretary, Supreme Court of Virginia
– Conflict Coach (2010) – Dispute Resolution Services, Office of the Executive Secretary, Supreme Court of Virginia
– Certified Trainer for Conflict Resolution (2018) – Dispute Resolution Services, Office of the Executive Secretary, Supreme Court of Virginia
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked with women and families, helping them move through conflict, change, and growth. I bring a calm, compassionate approach to every conversation—especially in moments that feel overwhelming or uncertain.
As both a mediator and parent educator, I focus on helping women communicate effectively and make thoughtful decisions. My work is rooted in respect, empathy, and real-life experience, and my goal is to create a supportive, solution-focused space where every woman feels heard, valued, and understood.
I’m honored to continue this work by helping women move forward with confidence, clarity, and renewed strength.
